This week marks a seasonal transition in our life. Much like the appearance of a robin's nest, the hum of lawn mowers, and bright tulips blooming we mark the entry into summer by the much anticipated return of Grandma Larson from Arizona. Ron's mom Barbara is like a Wisconsin Energy wind mill...continuous motion from an invisible source. She thrives on gardening, cooking, swimming, and socializing; and for the past two years, a little-known sport played with tremendous intensity in the retirement communities of Gold Canyon, Arizona....PICKLE BALL! For months the family has been advised via phone calls, facebook, emails and postcards of pickles to find this champion pickle-ball player a local court immediately. I want to do my part to keep my mother-in-law happy and active because the pay-off is tremendous. She is our most loyal, creative, conscientious babysitter in the area. She has taught Auburn to sew hot/cold bags, design dish towels, and bake delicious cookies . Together she and the kids plant a garden which by July is overflowing with tomatoes, green beans, squash, and eggplants. She spoils them with slumber parties, tea parties, and attends a variety of sporting events.
Barbara is a good example of the energy it takes to be a mom and a grandmom. Her thoughts and actions rest frequently on the well-being of her family. This first weekend in May, Ron will be in Eagle River (up nort') running a half marathon with his friend Kraig. Barbara has kindly agreed to entertain Auburn and Trey (although I think she would admit the entertainment is often reversed!) so that I can work and see clients on Saturday May 8th. For many moms, it is nearly impossible to find time during the week to do something enjoyable and health-generating for themselves. For that reason, I thought it would be nice to open up Home Training this Saturday for clients that would otherwise be unable to practice Pilates during the week. In addition, it solves the dilemma of, "What do you want for Mother's Day?" If you have a couple of friends and you wish to do a Pilates mat class rather than the reformer that would be an option as well. Following your session you can enjoy a cup of green tea and read a magazine in Home Training's "relaxation zone." (ha ha...that would be my living room...but if it is quiet and clean why not relax?)
If you are interested in scheduling a reformer session feel free and use the contact form associated with the website or simply email me at [email protected].
Cheers to moms of all ages and stages for the work they do, the sacrifices they make and the love they share.
