A video such as this causes me to pause...anytime we pause on what we are about to say (what if I don't criticize my child), pause on what we eat (maybe I don't need this ice-cream), or even pause on what we think about ourselves...we allow ourselves the opportunity for change. This video was shared to me by my sister in North Carolina. She is a mom, athlete, dedicated volunteer and also a skilled physical therapist. Her husband is a great father, marathon runner, and a gifted physician and surgeon. They are not "health nuts" but rather keenly aware of the effects our lifestyle choices have on our bodies and how we teach our children similar attitudes. Just because we exercise and eat well doesn't eliminate the possibility of heart disease. Watching this video reminded me too of the significance of internalized stress (relationship problems, financial issues, health strains etc), on our heart. If you have the possibility watch this with your children. If you are a coach, teacher, or doctor make sure to share this information with your clients. The approach is rather strict, you may decide it is too extreme for your family, but the idea of incorporating more fruits, veges, exercise, and yoga are accessible to all of us. Enjoy the day!
