It is my good fortune that clients continue to call Home Training their Pilates Home as well. On a typical morning our set-up is simple, the space sufficient, and our intentions clear---breathe, stretch and strengthen. For 3 years now this has been our practice and our setting when facing the "front" of the room.
The reverse view however takes our gaze to a less appealing focal point. The temporary particle board placed after we removed the breakfast bar from the cabinets' counter-top. Our home is full of "temporary" fixes...this particular one is about ten years old!
We are finally committing to a home remodel and updating our kitchen...circa 1984. The 80's were a great decade but it's time to fast forward the kitchen cabinets and counter-tops to the 21st century. Our prone Pilates series won't change but the backdrop will be enhanced. Good news, no more standing tall and wearing the light fixture as a helmet!
A.M. Construction, led by Tarey Dehne the Project Coordinator started the demolition right after mat class today. Tarey, Matt and Dan were so professional and helpful. Along the way they identified a leaky water valve and noticed our basement door to the storage area did not shut completely. It's only been that way since we installed it 5 years ago. Out came the drill, plates, screws, and valves and they quickly repaired a few of our many "issues" in addition to completing the total kitchen demolition. Even better, they had the most soothing Christmas music playing in the background...like Santa's elves in their workshop.
So, for the next few weeks, our mat classes will meet in my husband's man-cave....his lair...his storm shelter from the outside world as well as his protection from laundry and dishes. The basement is now a Pilates studio and it's mine...all mine (insert Dr. Evil laugh here). Hope you will join me soon for mat class. Thank you for reading as well as for making Home Training your Pilates Home as well.
