A brief follow-up regarding my 10 day detox with Advocare and Summer Maples Humphries....I liked it! The program gave me much needed structure to improve my eating habits. I ate fresh, whole foods and avoided dairy, wheat, and alcohol. Copious amounts of water, blueberries, strawberries, edamame, walnuts, pecans, natural peanut butter and oatmeal were mainstays. Chicken, salmon, and an occasional scrambled egg were my lean proteins. I downsized to 1 cup of coffee per day and added coconut oil and cinnamon to my morning coffee. I did not count calories and ate lots of healthy fats. My weight is typically between 122-125 pounds and that remained true at the end of the program. Although I was not looking to lose weight I do believe this program could serve as an ideal jumpstart for weight loss. I was less impulsive, avoiding my typical comfort foods (chocolate, cereal, chocolate, cheese, chocolate, bagels) and selecting more nutrient dense foods. I even occasionally juiced vegetables to make my own version of V-8. My energy increased and my mood was generally more positive. At this point my plan is to continue to develop these healthy eating habits so they become simply a part of my character. Exercise and mind-body practices like Pilates and yoga are part of my daily existence, the same should be true of a healthy diet. Thank you Summer for your guidance!
