In light of such recent tragedies in our nation I wanted to share a story of miraculous hope and healing. I think Kelly's words will inspire you to be "God with skin on," during this Christmas season and always.
Hello, this is Kelly's husband Kevin. At Kelly's request I am posting my updates on her page. See below:
Update #10 - Today was Kelly's 10th day in the ICU for her brain aneurysm. Her surgery to repair the aneurysm includes an incision that extends from the bottom of her ear to the top of her head on her right side(26 staples in all). The doctors literally had to remove part of her skull to get to the aneurysm during the surgery. I am telling you this because this morning Kelly was up out of bed walking laps around the ICU - just 9 days after brain surgery!! I am so proud and inspired by my wife Kelly!! She has shown unbelievable strength, determination, resilience, and drive during this entire process. As you can see from the picture she even took time to do her version of "TEBOWING"(Kelly is a Florida Grad)!! Although we had a great morning our afternoon reminded us why we are still in the ICU. Kelly's test results for TCD's came back unfavorably again. TCD's are a primary indicator of vasospasms. Vasospasms are when the veins in her head restrict blood flow to her brain. We went through this same thing this past Tuesday and knew that it could happen again. The doctors immediately took Kelly to the OR for her procedure. Just like Tuesday they injected her brain with a medicine that relaxes the vasospasms and opens up the veins in her head. This treatment is not a permanent and wears off quickly. The doctors however feel that this last treatment will buy us the needed time to get beyond the risk period for vasospasms. By this evening, Kelly was back out of bed and again walking laps(very slowly) around the ICU!! I am amazed with Kelly!!! She has been so brave and I am so proud of her!! In summary, today was another roller coaster ride filled with ups and downs. We ended it on a huge positive and are one step closer to recovery!! Thank-you all for your likes and comments on facebook. We read each and every one of them together every day!! They are incredibly uplifting!! Thank-you also for your continued prays and support. Today was a good day.

Update #14 - I think I'll do this one myself. 8-) 15 days ago, as you all know, my family and I unknowingly began a journey. Since then I have experienced higher highs, more terrifying lows, and more tender moments than I ever thought possible. As I prepare for my final night in the hospital, I look back at the valley we just traversed, and I am in awe at how God was with us the entire way. From the very beginning, God gave me an undeniable feeling NOT to ignore or push through this headache and to call 911. From that, to having Kevin working from home that day for the first time in a month...to having Emory in our backyard with the "A" team on call that night...I could go on and on with examples of how awesome our God has been through this trial! More than any of this though, I am blown away at how all of you: family, long-time friends, long-ago friends, close friends, acquaintances, friends of friends, and total strangers have walked through this with us. I read something recently that I think applies here: you all have appeared to us as "God with skin on." As we continue to press on toward total healing, I have found myself a stronger Christian, a more loving wife, a more devoted mother, and a more thankful friend. The updates will come less frequently now that as of tomorrow I'll be back in the "real" world, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity to tell you all "THANK YOU" and Praise God!!
Thank you for reading. Prayers and thanksgiving to Kelly for continued healing.
