Rocking Summerfest from the Core!

Today I had the good fortune to attend the largest musical festival in the nation, Summerfest.  It is a jam-packed two weeks of bands from every genre performing non-stop on the beautiful lakefront.  Local eateries offer food as diverse as the music.  The two best--no, the three best incentives to attend were: 1) Time spent with my best friend...2) My best friend had free admission tickets...and 3) Milwaukee band, Spoiled Rotten was performing at  Jo Jo's Lounge.  I have a personal investment in this band as their drummer has practiced Pilates faithfully over the past 3 years. This is the first time I had the thrill to watch them in action.

Glen and the rest of his band rocked the venue with hundreds in attendance.  It was music that made you want to move...Maroon 5, 3 Doors Down, Weezer, Black-
Eyed Peas..you name it and they can play it.   Fun, energetic, professional, talented...they know how to capture a crowd.

You can learn a lot about a person by observing them at work. Between his day job as a computer analyst and his vigorous part-time work as a professional drummer there are serious demands on Glen's posture, back, and neck.  Pilates is definitely the yin to a drummer's yang.  I understand now why my "Healing Gardens" sonata and John Mayer ballads make him roll his eyes.  It's not the core work that tortures my clients but my background music!  More importantly however, I also appreciate why the focus, concentration, stretch, and musculature balance of Pilates is appealing to musicians.  The three hour concert resembled a strenuous, athletic event to my trainer's eye.

Kristin and I agreed, throughout our perpetual grins, there is nothing more refreshing than watching performers and an audience absolutely consumed by energizing music.  In addition I laughed more than I had in months.  If you have a chance to catch Spoiled Rotten at one of their many local Milwaukee venues, you will be thoroughly impressed by a band passionate about entertaining their fans.  Thank you Spoiled Rotten for a perfect summer afternoon!
