I have written in previous months about my general philosophy on stretching as well as current research which discourages static stretching before athletic events; encourages dynamic stretches as part of the warm-up (high knees, straight leg kicks); and recommends focused static and dynamic stretches at the end of the activity. Generally speaking, a dynamic warm-up before aerobic activity will help prepare your body for the task and focused stretching upon the end of the task may assist with injury prevention or injury recovery. I have attached a series of illustrated stretches that I find helpful and restorative after my workouts.
