Congrats to the 7th Grade Badger Middle School Red Team, coached by Mr. Brian Vetter and assistant coach Landon Vetter, for winning the city-wide 38th Annual Holy Angels Tournament today. Special thanks to the parents, teachers, and coaches at Holy Angels who committed themselves to this week-long exciting West Bend tradition. The announcers, referees, admission and concession staff, plus great crowd support contributed to the success of this historical community event. Congrats to the Holy Angels team who placed second demonstrating impressive skills, effort, and sportsmanship.
We received this follow-up email from Coach Vetter shortly after the game. Coach Vetter is another fine example of a teacher/parent/coach dedicated beyond the classroom with a vision for encouraging youth to grow into responsible, committed, confident and caring young people. Thank you Coach!
Team,
I will send a longer reflection about the season once our season is officially over. However, I wanted to send a reflection about our tournament. First, I wanted to say a big thank you to the boys for how they treated Landon, being my assistant coach. All of you should be very proud of how respectful your boys are and of the way they treated a Kindergarten boy's opportunity of being a part of his dad's team. Not only are your son's exceptional ball players, but really good kids.
From a basketball standpoint, I couldn't be prouder. It was a great three games of teamwork, hard work, dedication, fun, and quite a lot of laughter in the locker room. As I sit here and write this, I am truly blessed to be a part of these young boys journey. All of them are truly hungry for guidance and improvement and do not expect anything less than the best from each other.
At the beginning of the season, the boys came up with 2 goals. 1. Win the H.A tournament. COMPLETE! 2. Go undefeated. IN PROGRESS. Apparently, I promised the boys shirts if we completed our goals. They seem to remember this crystal clear. Anyway, I would like to do that for them. So, if you could please give me your child's shirt size, I will have something for them at the end of the season.
Again, I plan on writing a longer reflection to all of you once our season is over, but for now, just want to say thank you for what you have done for your child both from a basketball standpoint and as future young men.

"Our greatest hope continues to be that every student-athlete, coach, and fan-in-the-stands will have a memorable experience which will be recalled as a high point of the basketball season. We continue the tradition that good sportsmanship and fair play contributes to a positive experience for all." Mike Sternig, Holy Angels Principal
